We examine the words of Jesus in John 3:16 in the context of the conversation that Jesus is having with Nicodemus about how to be born again… and we see how those words also come to us.
This portion of Jesus’ conversation with Nicodemus continues Jesus teaching him that he must be born again and that he must believe. Jesus tells Nicodemus that He must be lifted up, an allusion to the cross, rooted in the story of the Israelites and Moses from Numbers… The subject of belief will dominate the rest of the conversation.
A Conversation: Jesus & Nicodemus

This lesson covers the background and first part of the conversation that Jesus has with Nicodemus, a Pharisee.
This section coversJesus’ first cleansing of the Temple, His righteous anger at what He sees taking place in His Fathers House, and the signs that He performs in Jerusalem as He begins His ministry at Passover.
This lesson finished John chapter 3 and examines the joy that John the Baptist finds in fulfilling his purpose of pointing to Jesus; included is his famous statement, “He must increase and I must decrease!”
Sections 27 and 28 cover John’s declaration of Jesus as “The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” through Jesus beginning to call out His disciples.
This portion of section 25 serves to introduce the temptations of Jesus in the wilderness, see their purpose, and includes covering the first two temptations.
